Can Empaths Help Others Be Kind?

So with the recent things happening in the United States, one cannot ignore how mean, self-centered, narcissistic and cruel people have become.  There are many theories as to why, but I’m not going to concentrate on that.  I’m concentrating on how we, as empaths can help make things kinder for everyone.

I know that by doing good things, karmically, we can bring good to the world.  But has anyone ever thought, that if we pick up vibes from people, it’s a two-way street?  Of course it is. Can we also give off positive loving vibes and help people be kinder?  Of course we can. We are at it’s core, soul healers, and that is why we were given our gifts.

Anyone that knows about Reiki will atest to this. We can give loving energy to anyone, anytime.  And as empaths, we are all aware of this energy 100% of the time.  We know when people are down, happy, sad, etc.  We always try to help, and offer our positive energy.

But this takes a LOT of our energy and strength.  Everyone knows how hard it is to stay positive with negative people.  There are some days, I know, I just feel like I can’t take it anymore. But we still have to try.  The world needs empaths(and light workers) more than at any other time.  Here’s some things to help you recharge your batteries to help heal so many people that need it.

  1.  Stay grounded.  Staying grounded can be done in many ways.  For me, it’s digging in the dort, or being in nature.  Also, during the summer, I slepp in a tent on the ground.  Studies have shown that dirt acctually gives off serotonin and dopamine.  It also absorbs negative energy.  For many years I used to walk barefoot in my yard.  That stopped when I bought my farm(I have many animals!).  But I noticed not only had my foot muscles had become weak, and I couldn’t stay grounded. I started walking around my front yeard again barefoot, and noticed a difference immediately.

2.  Pray for others, and wish no one harm, hold your temper.  I know everyone knows this, but just remember;  the next time someone cuts you off, put yourself in their place and try to understand that NO ONE wants an accident.  It reduces your anger and the thought that anyone is trying to target you. Most of the time, we get angry because we feel our rights have been stepped on.

3.  Just let it go.  Yeah, I know, this is an old cliche. But you need to do this to help others.  Is it useful?  Is it helpful?  Is it needed?  Does it make you a better person?  If not, let it go.  I know it’s harder than it sounds.

4.  Meditate.  everyone meditates differently.  Some listen to loud, head-banging music.  Some need alone time.  SomeE need to take a walk, or jog.  Find that meditation.  It’s all about the brainwaves.  You need to get out of the conscious alpha brain waves, that produce stress, anxiety, anger, etc.  Listen to your body and you can FEEL when this is happening.  Everything seems to quiet down, including your blood pressure, heartbeat and your mind.

Giving People Positive ENERGY

Yes, when your batteries have been recharged, you can help give healing energy to others. It doesn’t always work, because some people DON”T want to be healed, but for those who do, these are some things to concentrate on.

  1.  Imagine yourself in a pyramid, giving love to that other person.  In this pyramid, love can go out, and no negative energy can come back in.  Imagine love radiating out only, with only positive enrgy coming back in.

2.   DO what you can do, and walk away.  Don’t keep trying repeatedly to help                   others(which I know is hard for empaths.)

3.  Make the other person feel good about themselves.  It seems like everyone is so mean to each other nowadays.  Give compliments.  It doesn’t make you less of a person.  I personally tell young women who I feel that have esteem issues, “OMG, you’re so cute.  Your have beautiful eyes!”  You’ll never know how much that might’ve meant to someone.  We’re so used to insults nowadays, than compliments, it usually shocks people, and that is what’s so sad!

4. Ask for angels to help the person. .  I’ve summoned angels, and I know personally, that it works.  Call upon an angel to protect and support that perspn.

5.  Set an example. Say or do something selfless, EVERY SINGLE DAY.  People truly are watching.

So there are some things we can do everyday, to help others be kinder.  Physical acts are just a few.  Explore trying to give off energy to help heal, and concentrate on other’s attributes.  There is truth to the phrase, “If you can’t say anything nice, say othing at all.”  Also give off love to the person from your heart.  It help you be kinder, and helps the worlde be kinder also.

Is It Ok to Pray at a Place Where You Don’t Practice Their Religion?

I really don’t know what religion I am.  I always call it ‘the religion of Lana”.  A little Christianity, a little Buddhism, a little New Age. I am a practicing medium and psychic, Reiki healer, hypnotist and animal communicator.   I think most of use agree that we don’t agree on all the tenets of many organized religions.  As for me, I refuse to believe in what someone tells me I should.  I have no qualms about people who do; just don’t spout at me about how you’re right and everyone else is wrong, and there will be no problems.

If you aren’t aware, I’ve been injured, and pretty severely.  So severe, my massage therapist and chiropractor have never seen this before.  I tore 2 major muscles in my back,  (yeah my butt!), and my QL(controls your whole upper body!), and ruptured a disc.   Wow, talk about pain!  I would not wish this on anyone. The worst pain is the healing process, because they muscles tug on your pelvis and ball joint. It’s really hard to get up each morning.

Anyways, I do believe in the ability  of my Higher power and miracles.  I have seen them repeatedly, and know that miracles exist.  I think that in our busy world, we just don’t pay attention, or slough it off to medical misdiagnosis, and the like.  Science always tries to explain what it really can’t.

I am from the tundra which we call Wisconsin.  There is a verified place of miracles ordained by the Catholic church in Champion, Wi.  People come from all around the world to visit there. It is called The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help.  I had read about that apparitions of Mother Mary and some of the healing that goes on there.  So I decided to take a day trip with a friend.

I wasn’t sure what to expect;  me a New Age Medium going to a Catholic Shrine.  I thought about it for a long time?  If I got healed or got a huge message would I convert?  What is my belief about all of this?  I knew my belief in who the apparition was varied greatly from many of the people who were praying there.

I got there, and as an energy healer, yes, there was something there. There were people praying and chanting, and although I wanted the quiet, I stayed in the chapel and continued to pray.  I decided that my Higher Power is my Higher Power; he/she/it doesn’t care what they are called.  They love you and don’t want you to be miserable.  So I continued to pray and meditate, without restraints and without judgement for anyone there, including for myself.

And yes, I got my answers.  I had been meditating about a career decision, and got that too. And yes, I have been healing.  In past articles I wrote about how to be specific when you put your wishes and desires out there(prayer), and this was no exception.  Yes, I am healing, but in considerable pain as the muscles pull on four other ligaments and joints. I forgot to ask for as little pain as possible during the healing process. When will I ever learn to be more specific?

My point is this; is it ok for someone who doesn’t share your beliefs to be next to you, praying?  Of course it’s ok.  It’s all about tolerance, and realization that God is God, no matter what. Remember that next time you judge somoene else about theirs beliefs. Mined your own business and heal your own life. Your personal relationship with your own Higher Power is all that matters.

Remember: Spirit Will Give you What you Need, not What you Want

cropped-2017-06-27 20.08.25I know that you are here to learn more about yourself, or you wouldn’t bother reading this. But I have a recent episode in my life that maybe you can relate to.

I injured myself.  Pretty bad, too.  Tore a major muscle that holds my sacroilliac joint and hip in place.  Also herniated a disc.  Every morning is a painfest as I try to ‘pop’ my joints back in place with exercises from a physical therapist.

Now here’s the kicker,  I’m not really complaining.  I just kind of think of it as a ‘bump’ in the road to being a healthier me. I’m grateful to friend who pointed that out to me when I started complaining about this.

Anyone that knows me, I’m a ball of energy.  I work fulltime, blog, do readings, run a farm, have a rental and have my daughter moved back in with me.  I go and go and go and…… I’ve always been like this.  I usually ignore stress and overwork, and just keep plugging away. I know many of my readers are the same, The American Way, right?

But secretly in my mind, I wished to slow my life down.  I was feeling that my life was going so fast, I had no time to literally ‘smell my roses'(I garden and have many rosebushes).  I really felt like I needed a break.  Just a little more time off than my 3 month break from my teaching position.

Well, as you can see, sometimes, the Universe gives you an answer,  but not in the way you’d like.  Some people say that you create your own life and destiny, and yes, I agree with that.  It seems strange, doesn’t it?  I ASKED to be laid up and in pain indefinitely?

Well, I’ve made stupid wishes before, and I guess I’ll do them again.  I kept wishing for time off, and I was not specific, and this is what I got.  I’m off; I’m just injured. I’m scared this may be permanent, but I keep praying and there does seem to be improvement, and most of my day is pretty pain-free.  I still cannot do certain tasks, but that is coming along. This time off has also given time to think;  Do I want to do something else?  Do I really want to keep up this pace?  I’ve had lots of time to think.

My point is; life is how you view it.  I am viewing this as a blessing.  Even though I am frustrated and have pain, it has given me time to truly ‘slow’ down.  I’m relaxing, resting and working on my health.  This has also made me aware of something that I had taken granted for; my health, which has always been excellent up until now.

Glass half-full, or half-empty?  In this case, I view it half full.  Don’t question whys or hows, or if I only had done this, that or the other thing.  View it as a bigger picture.  Here’s some things to think about when things come from Spirit.

  1.  Did I need this?  Did I, in a remote way, wish for this?
  2. Have I been specific with my desires? (ALWAYS BE SPECIFIC!!!)
  3. What am I learning?
  4. Has this episode made me a better person?
  5. Am I trying to make lemonade with the lemons that I’ve been thrown?

I know it’s hard;  as you can see, I’m right along there with you.  But you can chose to be bitter and angry, or view it as a way to become a better you.  It’s your choice. I choose the positive.  I think that this is going to make me more empathetic with my clients who have back issures, and my positive attitude will help me heal faster.

What is YOUR issue?  What challenges do YOU face?  You can overcome it with a positive attitude and a forgiving perspective.  Remember you are a piece of the divine, you can do anything!

Be Careful What you Wish For: Being Exact in Your Desires

So if anyone knows me, I’ve recently suffered an injury. Due to overwork and stress, I simply bent over and tore a muscle, tendon, herniated a disc and slipped two more.  Yeah, all over bending over to feed my bunnies.  Great….now what?

After the initial shock and pain(which was probably an 11 on a scale of 1-10), I hobbled into my house, put on a heating pad, and went to my chiro for the diagnosis.  I was sure I wouldn’t recover, and would be in this much pain forever.  I cried steady for about a week.

It wasn’t until I had a good friend pointed out a my situation.  When I told her she said, “Wow, did YOU get what you wished for.  What a Blassing.”

I was confused, but at the same time, I understood.  I had been complaining for months of my fatigue and overwork. I must’ve stated at least 30 times, “I just wanna slow my life down.”  And boy, I got it, in one way or another. in the long run, I am blessed.  I had to see the rainbow through the clouds.

The universe is an odd thing, we always get what we need or want, in one way or another.  It is not here to deny us, but give us our needs; it just may happen in a way that may not be adventageous at that point.

For me, I needed some time off;  I knew it, and like I said, it was the WAY that I wished for it.  I was not specific.  Another example:  I kept saying I wanted a new car;  within 1 month I got a new car…after I totalled my old one completely.

Here’s some things that I have learned quickly about how the universe works at getting what we want.  Hopefully, you’ll get the things you want by following some of the laws and how they work.

  1.  Make a wish, say it loud and BE specific; ” I wanna publish my novel through a large national publisher. ” Don’t say. I wanna get published.  This could result in getting an offer to publish through some fly-by-night company who screws you.
  2. Set a specific date.  This gives the universe and you something to keep your motivated and at the front of your ‘list’ of things to accomplish.
  3. Be happy, if it happens in any way.  It may not happen like you’d like to.  But it’s a gift anyways.  Enjoy it.
  4. If it doesn’t happen it wasn’t meant for you.  Maybe choose to tweek the desire or go a different direction.

So as I’ve said, here I sit, trying to enjoy my time off, while I heal.  I’m hoping to ride horses again;  I am feeling better every day.  I got what I wanted.  I just need to make lemonade from those lemon wishes that I made.

The Awakening Intuitive: It Shows in Their Auras

I’ve been writing a lot lately about auras and people’s color.  The more I’ve studied this, the more I can  identify someone who has 1) psychic ability, or 2) awakening their psychic ability. Sometimes people don’t even know it, while others, when I’ve mentioned that I think they have ability, they nod and smile.

Firstly, I truly think that everyone has SOME psychic ability; For example, I know each of my daughters have inherited some of my ability, but in different ways.  My eldest daughter has dreams, and recently ‘saw’ someone who had crossed over.  My middle daughter is quite good with cards and runes, and my youngest has an uncanny gift of discernment(and had kept her good ole’ mom out of trouble with certain people who I often attempt to give repeated chances to). But what I’m talking about is a true awakening to their gifts. Almost like realizing their life’s purpose. People can have abilities; what I’m talking about is an acceleration and realization.  Kind of like a ‘coming into their own’ power.

I know an ‘awakening’ individual when I FEEL them, not just see them.   Their aura just feels different; but it looks different also.  It’s usually gold or yellow.  I’ve seen some people with more of an indigo, but I really think that those who have true awakenings have golden(shimmery) auras. These auras usually change as they complete their awakening process.

Now I’ve written several times about your favorite color being your aura.  With some people like those who are awakening, this is not always the case. Their favorite color may be red. or blue, but I am definitely seeing and feeling gold.  Sometimes, this may even become their favorite color for a short time, as each individual comes into their own.  I guess I could call these people ‘enlightened’; they truly have become aware of their abilities and gifts.  This golden color can also represent accelerated spiritual gifts, such as healing and psychic abilities.

Can You Purposely Become “Awakened?”

Many have asked me, “How can I increase my psychic ability? How do I become enlightened?”  My answer to this is simple; the fact that you are searching, questioning and even reading this shows that you are in the act of awakening and increasing your psychic abilities. There are stages  and experiences which one usually goes through.

  1. Some type of trauma:  This quite common and acts as a catalyst to your awakening. A death, a divorce, meeting your twinflame, etc.  It opens you up for your souls growth, which leads to your awakening.  For me, it was my mother’s sudden death.  After she died, she came and sat on the edge of my bed and talked to me.  I was suddenly a medium.  While this is the most common method for awakening, it doesn’t have to always be that way.  Sometimes even an ‘aha’ moment can bring this about.
  2. Increased psychic ability;  the abilities of the awakened one rapidly accelerate, often to the surprise of the individual.  This is the time that I usually see their auras become golden yellow, or orangish-yellow. They also begin giving off so much psychic energy, most intuitives can feel it.  I know when I first began practicing as a healer and psychic, I gave off so much golden aura that you couldn’t see me in my kirlian photos.  As I leanred to handle my gifts, my aura became more green(healer), with gold on the edges.
  3. Need to change their lives:  Awakened people begin to feel that soemthing is missing; they may change jobs, move or do something to align with their true purpose.
  4. Fight or flight.  Some people resist and deny their gifts, while others fight to really open themselves up.  Many go through fear, especially when these gifts don;t align with what they had been taught through their previous religions and teachings.
  5. Comprehension and acceptance:  the final stage is awareness of their true purpose and the acceptance for who they truly are.

So after reading this; where are you? Have you begun the process of awakening?  Or have you already finished the transformation?  I bet I can tell by your aura…….

4 Natural Anxiety Treatments I Bet You Didn’t Know About

Well, yes…I’m a psychic medium, but as many of you know, I’m also a health advisor. What I do is, as I’m doing readings, I scan your body, tell you about past injuries, some that might affect you now, and other ailments that you currently have and how to fix them. I don’t know how I do this, but I have saved people’s lives(By the way, I give that glory to God and my guides, not me.  I’m just the messenger.).

When I read for people, I usually see a pattern that we all have in today’s society: anxiety. I personally suffer from a generalized anxiety disorder myself ( i.e. cronic worry).  You know, the dumb, stupid stuff that really doesn’t matter  but you just can’t let go of. Years ago they would have called me a “worry wart.” It doesn’t even make sense half of the time. But you just can’t stop.  I know I am not alone.

Sure, take a little pill, like all Western doctors try to put down our throats.  But for me, it’s a little more complicated.  I can’t just ‘take’ anything. All anxiety medicines either 1) raise my bloodpressure, 2) make me puke, or 3) make my whole body twitch.  I’ve tried approximately 8 different types, to no avail.  So I decided to do some research for myself to look for natural alternatives.  Tried yoga(Yep, helped), meditation(helped also), but I still had some anxiety.  I searched these remedies up and found they worked just good enough to keep my anxiety down without making me a zombie.

1. Vitamin B12

B12 is needed for the creation of new cells.  Your body HAS to have it for normal function.  You can actually die if your levels are low enough.  And stress can cause leeching of this important vitamin.

As for me,I didn’t even know that I was low.  Low enough to cause me heart palpitations, and brain fog, and tingling in my hands. Older people sometimes have lower levels, and perimenopause can create issues, combined with stress.  ‘Can’t be me, I thought.  I take vitamins.’  WRONG!!!! Only a fraction of vitamins are absorbed through pill, while 98% of liquids are absorbed.   I was taking b12 liquid, but NOT ENOUGH.  I started shots from a healthcare provider and not only did it help me sleep, but kept me from ‘flying off the handle.’  B12 is great for anxiety and hormonal imbalances.  Be careful not to get too much, though.  Take to your doctor about shots.  Shots are the only thing that seems to work for me keeping up my levels.  I try to go every 1-2 months.  I notice I worry less.

2) Vitamin C

Did you know that vitamin C has a natural anti-anxiety affect? It has been proven repeatedly that high doses of vitamin C’s affects can be immediate on anxiety(go to Dr. Oz.com for more info.) Make sure you take enough.  If not, you won’t get an results.  I personally take 3000mg. in liquid form every day.  It reduces cortisol and DROPS blood pressure.  I started this and after a week, I finally slept through the night after 3 months.

3) Ashwagandha

This is a traditional Ayurvedic medicine that has been used for thousands of years.  I’ve been noticing a tremendous difference during my peri-menopause when I’ve taken it.  It’s easy to find at any drug store, and it really WORKS(at least for me).  Some people it may not work for. I guess you just have to try it.  It’s also not to be taken for extremely long amounts of time.  I’m taking it for 2-4 months, and then stop.  It seems like that helps me not get ‘immune’ to it’s effects. I then may starton it again within a few months.  I love how this medicine actually makes me happy throoughout the day. Pretty cool, and no side effects for me yet.

4)  Magnesium

Magnesium, magnesium, magnesium…….ahhhhhhhh.  This one we all have a tendency to be low on, and it is needed in our nervous systems.  I take it daily as a pill AND have an Epsom Salt bath every week.  It calms palpiations, and helps you sleep, also.  Most adults are low in it form stress, leeching it out of our bodies.

I have a couple other medicines that I was going to suggest, like Valerian(it actaully makes me hyper), so these are the ones that work for me.  Take care of yourself and experiment after getting informed.  You’ll be glad you did…..

Peace Out,

Lana

Can Empaths Be Narcissists?

I’ve met many people recently, and they’ve told me that there is not a lot of information about empaths. So I’ve decided to concentrate on this subject, and give information from my own experience, as well as channeled, from my guides.

Have you ever met someone who was the most charming, sweet caring person?  One person who seems to know the REAL YOU?  And then, all of a sudden, when you’ve let your guard down, it seems like they’ve become selfish monsters, taking advantage of you, abusing you and making you miserable.  You know the type; the person who seems to know just how to get to you.  They seem to know everything about you; your insecurities, your fears, what makes you tick.  You sometimes wonder how they kow it all.  And the bad thing is that they use all this information to get what they want, leaving you drained, depressed and feeling abused.

Let me tell you a little secret;  these people are actually empaths and possibly have psychic ability.  What they are doing is using their abilities, not for the benefit of others, but the benefit for themselves. Yes, there are empaths out there that use their ability to their own benefit for selfish purposes. These people are sometimes referred to in modern terminology as narcissists.

If you don’t know what a narcissist is; to sum it all up, they are manipulators who only think of themselves and what they can gain.  They use people with little regard for others.  Now can you imagine; this personality combined with the ability of an empath? They are the worst kind of person out there;  they have turned their back on their Higher Power’s gifts to do selfish, evil things.  And I am being told that there are many, many narcissists out there that are empaths gone wrong. Approximately half of them to be more exact.

Now some of you might be thinking; how can they hurt others without regard, ESPECIALLY if they are empaths?  Empaths feel what others are feeling.  How can they not care? The answer is simple;  they have learned how to ‘turn off’ the guilt, the pain and have hardened themselves to those feelings, maybe through hardship or just anger.  I truly feel these people are not truly evolved; they have been given a truly exceptional evolved talent, and are using it in the wrong way.

My attitude is that I am of service to others;  I am here to heal.  Empaths are no angels; empaths are here to heal and we all make mistakes.  The difference is the guilty and true caring that empaths have for others. It bothers us to ‘screw up’; we actually lose sleep because we can feel and carry to pain of others. We are the truly’awakened’ people that have come at the age of Aquarius.

Now here’s the situation; what happens when you meet one of these people, a empathic narcissist?  How do we keep from them using their ability against us? These people are charismatic, gregarious , outgoing, and charming.  They are also selfish, egoccentric and manipulative, AND they can feel how you feel, and ‘know’ things about you.  They use this knowledge to their benefit. OUCH!

How to Avoid Narcissistic Empaths

  1.  WATCH!!!!  An empath can usually FEEL another empath.  Due to our loving natures, we want to help and trust EVERYONE.  But still, I’m not sure about you, but I can tell when someone is a fellow empath.  TRUST YOUR GUT.  What was your first impression?  Are they unusually charismatic? Can you feel manipulation? Try not to get involved.  I know it’s hard, but that solar plexis is telling you something!  My personal method is when I first meet someone, I wait 60-90 days before I get close to them.  Usually, you will start to see things that reveals who they really are.  Yes, sometimes I’ve been wrong, but USUALLY, you’ll start to see the real person and their motives.

2.  Protect yourself.  Consciously put a ‘protection’ around yourself.  I personally, put                                  mental green ‘pyramid’ around myself.  This gives me protection from absorbing negative energy, but also keeps others from being able to ‘read’ me.  It does take some practice.  I also pray that I can keep my emotions intact, and keep others from ‘getting’ to         me.  This has worked for me.

3.  Pray for the narcissists.  Yeah, I know this is a hard one.  But pray to your higher power (for me, God), that they can wake up and use their talents for the benefit of mankind. Also by praying for others, you release the negativity from yourself. There is definite power in prayer.  I’ve seen miracles by putting human energy into positivity.

Hopefully, with a watchful eye, and positivity, we can all not only watch and protect ourselves from these worst type of empaths, but maybe help them turn their talents for the good of mankind, where the talents belongs.

Empath: Keeping Your Spiritual Integrity Intact When No one Else Around You Does

You know what I mean, right?  No one seems to have morals anymore, or is is just me?  Or am I being “old fashioned?” No, I guess morals won’t ever truly go out of style(I hope).

I’m not preaching; I’m just stating facts; morals and beliefs may be different for different people and different religions, but most morals are universal.  What I’m talking about crosses all religious beliefs; kindness, selflessness and doing good deeds without expecting any return.  Period.

These are the ways I’ve found that keep my spirituality intact and strong.  I know it’s getting harder and harder guys! Don’t you just wanna scream sometimes, “What about me!  What’s in in For ME?!  I’m tired of being used! That’s when you need to take a good hard look at yourself and reground your spiritual self.

Yes, I’ve been there; especially when I’ve had people who’ve used me over and over and over. (Us empaths have a habit of doing this because we want to help so badly.)  Here’s some things that I’ve done that have helped me when people have done some bad things.

  1. Yes, people can be nasty; they are selfish, cruel, uncaring, boastful, greedy and abusive.  But yet, they can be kind, caring, loving and generous.  Find that inn EVERY SINGLE PERSON.  Every person on the planet has some good qualities, somewhere.  Find those and appreciate them.  Sometimes it may take some REAL searching to find those good qualities.  Just dig a little deeper. It will give you a renewed faith in people.

2.  Forgive.  This is a basic in any religion.  Forgiveness frees you.  These people no longer have the power over you. And resentment and inner anger only festers in your   soul. I know it’s hard.  Especially when they’ve done it over and over, but try.  It may take many years to finally let go, but try to.  You’ll feel free.

3.  Mind your own business.  I’ve found this to be especially true for me.  I pass no     judgement on anyone and their lifestyle.  As long as it doesn’t take away from my freedom and affect my peaceful life, they can live anyway they want.  (If they are doing things to innocent people that’s another story, and another article.) People create their own karma, and I let things go, even as hard as it might be. I try to concentrate on myself. Remeber what goes around, comes around.

4. Do something kind for someone else, and expect nothing in return.  I know when my soul is wearing thin, and I am burned out, I try to remember why I came(to help others), and refocus on my mission.  I will often do something kind, and not tell anyone; I sent some flowers to a co-worker recently who lost her husband, and didn’t put any name on the card. She’ll know someone cares; those little things mean a lot, folks.  Remeber that.

Light workers vs. Empaths: There is a Difference?

I have noticed recently that there are a lot of people who are using the word ’empath’ more and more. It is beginning to take ‘hold’ in pop culture, and be used regularly. That’s a great thing, but I also want to clarify some terms that I am seeing being ‘thrown’ around with little thought, and are incorrect.

First off, empaths are feeling, sensitive and extremely caring peopple who can actually FEEL other people’s emotions.  They often ‘take on’ other people’s emotional baggage and carry it around with them.  They feel everyone’s pain, and always are trying to help others.  I’ve also seen some empaths that are out of balance, who can feel other’s emotions, but don’t try to help.  They feel bad for them, but often ignore trying to help because these empaths are so self-absorbed.  They are out of ‘balance’, as we would say in the metaphysical world.

A lightworker is different;  they were sent here on a specific mission to do good in the world.  They can be anywhere and anything, but rarely are they negative, unless they too, are out of balance with their mission. Their main mission is to bring love to the world, much like an empath, but in a larger setting.

Let’s explain the difference; there are lightworkers that are not empaths, and empaths who are not lightworkers.  Lightworkers are one step above empaths because they have elected a special mission by their higher power to complete, whereas empaths are feeling  and sympathetic people. Now don’t get me wrong; empathy is an important thing and can be healing for people.  It can also be your life’s mission but there is definately a difference between the two.

Ever meet the kindest person in the world with no real ability to read people and their emotions?  They are loving in their heart, but can’t feel how others feel?  I know many of those.  On the flipside, have you ever met someone who can feel the emotions of others, and because of this, they cannot really function, and choose not to interact with the world?  I met many of those also.

Then there are those of us, who know our mission, deal with people and their emotions and heal at the same time.  They are selfless, determined and an inspiration.  They are not perfect, because they are human, like us.  These people are both lightworkers and empaths. Like I said before, they are one step above the normal empath and lightworker; they have the best talents and gifts from both worlds.

Now, here’s my question to all of you;  are you an empath, a lightworker or both?  Is it possible you don’t even realize your true mission and are out of balance or are you living  for the purpose that you came into this life for?

“Listen to your gut.  It knows the way.”

Things an Empath Should Stop Doing NOW!!!!

So I’ve been writing intensely about empaths for the past few weeks.  As an empath, I’ve found life an be harder than many other people;  I(we) have a tendency to be taken advantage of, we’re overly sensitive and people know how to ‘twist the knife’ when dealing with us, and our emotions and care for others often leads to compassion exhaustion and burnout.  When we get to that point, there’s almost no turnng back;  we may do bizarre and unusual things to help us cope.  We may leave steady, good jobs, cut off friends, stop our own self improvement and basically mentally tear ourselves apart.  Can we prevent from having total burnout?  Can we rejunvenate and keep our loving and caring natures intact, along with our energy and self-esteem?  I’ve found 3 things that I’ve stopped doing that have helped me keep from being totally burned out.

1- Stop Trying to Save the World

This may sound rasther strange, but empaths think they have to do EVERYTHING and be everything to EVERYBODY.  If something bad happens, they internalize it,and make it their own.  An empath can’t handle hearing the nightly news on TV; it bothers them so much that they can’t solve all the world’s ills.  An empath’s career choice is also in the helping fields; medicine, mental health, social worker, etc., and this leads to literally taking on others people’s burdens and problems as your own.  We don’t mean to, and even when we say that we don’t care or have let go, we usually haven’t.  We just want to help humanity so badly,(thatis why we came) that our heart chakras are as large as oceans, thinking that we can help everyone.

What I’ve found that has helped me is to step back and realize when to walk away.  Now I know this is no easy task.  I ask myself these questions everyday, and they seem to help me make better decisions:

  1.  Can I make a difference in the outcome of the situation?
  2. Will helping harm or drain me or cause me to pick up and carry negative energy?
  3. Is this deterimental to me in any way if I get involved?

2- Learn to Say No

Saying no, means NO.  And you really need to stand your ground.  Quit letting others take advantage of your kind nature.  It leaves you drained and angry overall.  But empaths can’t help being like this.  A true empath can’t stand hurting another person’s feelings, even if their own needs are not met and are taken advantage in the process. Did you get asked to help at a school function, but are totally overwhelmed and too busy, and said yes anyways?  Back-off and say no.  I know it’s hard to do, but trust me, it gets easier over time.  It just takes practice.  And don’t feel guilty about it, like I know you probably will.  You HAVE to take care of yourself. I know that this seems like it’s the last thing to do and totally selfish.  In the long run, you will still be able to help others without burnout.

3- Do More of What Makes you Happy

We All need this, empaths or not.  We so busy on our modern society to just slow down, and do what we truly enjoy.  As an empath, I enjoy anything outside; my horses, gardening, long walks, painting and creating Art outside. Being outdoors rejuventates me, and gives me renewed energy and perspective.  And whatever you enjoy, do it. Listen to music, create something, socialize, do something ELSE than just help people.  Helping people is the reason you came, but shouldn’t be a way to release stress and negative energy that you have acquired by absorbing it from others.  By doing your hobbies, you CLEANSE your aura and recharge your batteries instead of depleting them.

I know that many of my followers know much of this article, but I posted this and asked the question again; how can you help others and still keep yourself whole and energized to stay on your mission?

Please feel free to message me with thoughts and suggestions, I really appreciate them!
